Wild-Kitchen Outdoor Cooking Day 1

Bushcraft Courses

Join us in our 12 acre private woodland just 20 minutes north of Sheffield in South Yorkshire. Our canopied basecamp and a wood fire ensure our clients keep dry and are supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits.

All of our sessions are run with a maximum of 8 people to ensure a high level of interaction with the instructor.

Families are just as welcome as individuals, we’ve ensured the content of our sessions is just as engaging to young people as it is to the over 18’s

This is a really exciting day course brand new for 2017!

Run in collaboration with Katie Rees of KindleWoods, we'll spend the day cooking on the campfire with the most basic of ingredients...don't let that mislead you though: You'll be amazed at the diversity and fun you can have with these simple basecamp staples.

This course has the option of joining the following days Utensil Carving Workshop, with an optional overnight stay in the woods.

 

WHAT’S COVERED: 

  • Fire management

    • Using a fire as a tool: how different arrangements create different effects

    • getting the most from your fuel: Which woods are best for boiling, roasting, creating ash

    • Introduction to Dutch Ovens (Cast Iron Pots) for cooking

      • We'll show you how to look after and use these fantastic pots for a variety of tasks

  • Starter ingredients: The base camp staples- Flour, Eggs, Sugar, Milk, Butter

    • We'll make: Ash cakes, Crumpets, tempura, bannock, smoked eggs, cake, steamed pudding, flat breads, doughnuts..... and maybe a few more!
  • Where possible we'll introduce some wild food too, to supplement our flavouring

  • Dates: Saturday 25th March 2017
  • 9.30am-4.30pm 
  • £80 per person
    • 20% off the Wild-Kitchen Utensil Carving Day if booked together. (Select when adding to cart.)
    • Option to stay in the woods overnight £5 per person (the fee can be paid on the day).
  • Pre-booking only
  • Food included as you'll be making plenty to nibble on through the day, please inform us of any dietary requirements
  • Due the involved nature of this course, we don't feel its suitable to children under 12 years old (please ask if you have any questions)
  • Run in a beautiful 12 acre  private woodland just outside West Bretton. We'll send you exact directions with the booking pack.
