At Howl we specialise in journeying skills, the Bushcraft we practice and teach is that of the traveler. There is a wonderful simplicity that comes from taking a trip in the outdoors, a pragmatism gleaned from necessity. We draw from this experience in the field to teach a set of skills and knowledge based in expedience and realism, skills that actually get used while outdoors. We provide an insight into the Natural world, opening up a vast array of natural resources and knowledge to help you travel with less reliance on the contents of your rucksack: it’s what you carry in your mind that matters.

Ekelund Hunting Axe is your perfect hunting partner, perfect for clearing paths and small scale felling, limbing, and firewood production.

Here at Howl we wanted to offer only the axes we use ourselves out in the woods, while there are a huge range of tools available for every given task this axe will perform finely across many jobs while still being easy to carry.

With its ground neck and medium-weight head, Ekelund is ideal for easier forestry work as well as for skinning game with great precision. This makes it your perfect hunting partner. It is also an ideal gift for any hunting enthusiast.

Like all Hultafors axes, the Ekelund is hand forged and made from Swedish quality steel. The name of this classic hunting axe comes from Gunnar Ekelund, the squire who, inspired after a trip to the USA, initiated axe production at a larger scale in 1870-75.
