Learn the art and science of mantracking with internationally renowned tracker Kyt Lyn Walken and bushcraft instructor Jamie Dakota in this immersive weekend course.

This 3-day mantracking course explores the skills, mindset, and modern-day applications of tracking humans across different environments. Whether you’re interested in search and rescue (SAR), forensics, bushcraft, or simply want to deepen your awareness of the natural world, this hands-on training will teach you how to read the ground, analyze tracks, and build the foundational knowledge needed to follow and interpret human movement.

What You’ll Learn:

Day One – Introduction & Theory (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

  • Meet the instructors and course overview

  • The history and evolution of mantracking

  • Modern uses: forensic tracking, SAR, military & tactical applications

  • The tracker’s mindset

  • Real-world case studies where tracking changed outcomes

Day Two – Tracking Skills in Practice (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

(Plus Night Tracking: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

  • Anatomy of the human foot & gait analysis

  • Common footwear patterns: sneakers vs hiking boots

  • Introduction to the tracking kit and tracking stick

  • Understanding pitch angle, depth, and stride

  • Gathering intelligence from single and paired tracks

  • Track traps vs hostile terrain

  • Visual perception & sensory awareness (sight, sound, smell)

  • SAR and forensic tracking principles

  • Approaching tracks in forested or contaminated environments

  • Night tracking: Techniques for identifying tracks in low light using flashlights

Day Three – Advanced Techniques & Application (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

  • Long trackline exercises and team tracking
