Venison Harvest - A Wild Kitchen Butchery Class
Deer, Embers & Wild Flavour: A One-Day Deer Butchery & Fire-Cooking Experience
Step into the woods for the day and get hands-on with a workshop that takes you from field to fire. This friendly deer-in-a-day butchery course teaches you how to respectfully break down a deer in the wild and then transform your harvest into an unforgettable campfire-cooked feast.
Guided by Millie Stapley, you’ll learn traditional field butchery skills, identify key cuts, and understand how to use every part of the animal. Once the butchery is complete, we shift from knife to flame: explore ember-roasting, smoking and open-flame grilling, and cook a rustic meal directly over coals beneath the woodland canopy.
This is an authentic, skill-building day for outdoor enthusiasts, food lovers, and anyone wanting to reconnect with where food truly comes from. No previous experience required; just curiosity, respect for the animal, and a love of the outdoors.
Highlights
Learn ethical, hands-on deer butchery in a woodland setting
Break down a whole deer, from field prep to prime cuts
Traditional campfire cooking methods
Cook a hearty, flame-kissed meal over embers and coals
Gain confidence, practical skills and a deeper connection to wild food
Take home half a deer per person for the freezer
Join us in the forest for a day of skill, fire and flavour. Taste wild food the way it was meant to be: honest, elemental and shared around a crackling campfire.
