Woven Basket Workshop

£95.00

Spend a day learning the satisfying craft of rattan basket weaving with Segued van Leusen, creating a beautiful and practical basket to take home at the end of the course.

Working with natural rattan, you’ll be guided through the process of building your basket from the first woven strands through to shaping the sides and finishing the rim. Along the way, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques of basket construction, how to control the material and how traditional weaving patterns create strength from something remarkably simple.

The finished basket is designed to be used. Take it into the woods as a foraging basket for gathering wild foods, fungi and plants, keep it in the kitchen as a rustic bread basket, or simply put it to work around the home.

This is a hands-on day built around learning through making. No previous basketry experience is needed, and all the materials required to create your own rattan basket are provided. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a new set of traditional craft skills and a basket made entirely by your own hands.

Dates:

28th March 2027

If you’re looking to round out your weekend check out our Birch Bark workshop too for the Friday and Saturday, or take your woven basket to the next level and book the Pack Basket course.
